TROON CUP RECAP 2011

The Troon Cup is Troon’s annual flagship event and this year it was hosted by Settlers Run Golf & Country Club in Melbourne from 4th – 6th March.

The Troon Cup is a round robin matchplay event pitting teams of 8 players from each of Troon’s 10 Australian managed facilities against each other over three days. On the first two rounds on the first day fo the event, Brookwater lead the way with 7 points out of a possible 8, Pacific Dunes and The Cut were a close second both scoring 6 points each.

By the end of the 2nd day of the Troon Cup played at the Legends course at Moonah Links, the points were holding in Brookwater’s favour. They won all their matches on day 2. Pacific Dunes were in 2nd position on their own after a solid team performance..

The final day’s play at Settlers Run was almost a forgone conclusion as Brookwater held a big points lead and would take surprise turnaround in form for anyone else to win. On a fantastic day for golf, Brookwater won 3 of their matches and recorded their only loss for the event to win the 2011 Troon Cup. The home team from Settlers Run won 3 of their final day matches to overtake Pacific Dunes and finish in 2nd position with Pacific Dunes and the team from Pacific Harbour finishing in 3rd place.

Congratulations Brookwater, 2011 Troon Cup Champions! Their 4th Troon Cup win in 6 events. The team finished with 10 wins, 1 half and 1 loss over the three days of competition. Troon Golf congratulates the team of Julian & Clare Brown, Peter & Rhonda Clarke, Alan & Alicia Burley, Greg Hodge & Dan Wowchuk. A further special mention goes to Alan & Alicia on being named joint Player of the Tournament.

TROON INVITATIONAL 2012

A schedule of Troon Invitational events for Troon Executive Card holders and a guest and other Troon program affiliates will be released in the second half of 2011.
